Bold Street saw a 14,000 footfall on Sunday as Liverpool BID Company’s ‘Celebrating Bold Street’ welcomed street performers, workshops, competitions, music and more.
The total footfall count on Bold Street on Sunday 13 August was 14,201, a 48% increase year on year and a 36% increase on the previous Sunday (10,437).
Organised by Liverpool BID Company, the ‘Celebrating Bold Street’ and ‘Celebrating Castle Street’ events returned after a three year hiatus and featured jam-packed programmes of street entertainment, music, workshops, chef’s demos and more, sharing the unique character of two of the city centre’s most striking streets. Local businesses contributed with their own events and special offers to showcase the unique character and offer of the city centre locales.
Liverpool BID Company also reveals that they are offering £2k worth of support to a cultural festival on Mathew Street running from 21-24 August and coinciding with International Beatle Week. Decoration and animation will include window art on Mathew Street, the ‘All You Need is Love’ heart as a selfie spot, and street performers.
Bill Addy is CEO of Liverpool BID Company,
“We know that this year has seen a number of challenges on our high streets and businesses. Creating animation and a pull to boost footfall helps more people to see the personality and possibility of our city centre. Castle Street and Bold Street are filled with a combination of independent businesses and family favourites, a blend of hospitality and retail that helps to showcase the best that Liverpool has to offer. We want to thank all of our city centre businesses who showed real enthusiasm and excitement for these events”.
