Smithdown Road is now home to a new authentic Italian restaurant, Cantina e Cucina, an independent family-run business pulling out all the stops to bring excellent food and superb service to the city.

The venue, located in the growingly popular Smithdown area of Liverpool, has been gaining positive recognition for its hospitality and great ‘value for money’ dining since just opening. Upon visiting the Italian restaurant, diners may be fooled by the small entrance, with the inside designed as a converted barn with a Mediterranean décor throughout.

Diners can enjoy rustic dishes on the menu such as ‘Branzino la Cantina’ pan-fried seabass served with shallots, green beans, and lemon butter sauce, ‘Penne Piccanti’ penne pasta with spicy sausages, onions, garlic, and Nduja and tomato sauce, ‘Bistecca de la Casa’ a T-Bone steak served with mushroom, grilled tomato and chips, and ‘Lasagna al Forno’ pasta sheet cooked with traditional slow-cooked meat, ragu, bechamel sauce, and tomato and mozzarella.

The drinks menu is packed with Italian white and red wines to complement the menu dishes, as well as serving cocktails, beer, cider, and soft drink options.

Reviews include Helen F, who commented: “Heard about this new restaurant but unsure what it was like. We needn’t have worried. It was superb. Excellent food, lovely staff and an interesting old building.”

Anissaniss said:   “I went there with my friends and it was the best meal I had in a while. The pastas are amazing, I would recommend the pasta picante, affogato and profiteroles. Very welcoming and friendly Manager, will definitely come back. Worth giving it a try.”

Our aim in Cantina e Cucina is to offer authentic Italian food in a local neighbourhood site.  Everything is fresh and we have been really popular with families since recently opening, which has been great to see.. We look forward to being part of this great city’s food scene for many years to come.”
