Beyond Van Gogh and Beyond Monet are now open in Liverpool

Liverpool’s waterfront is currently hosting two must-see immersive art exhibitions, Beyond Van Gogh and Beyond Monet are now open at Exhibition Centre Liverpool and running until Friday 15 August.

The experiences alternate on different days across a four-and-a-half-week residency, each offering visitors a unique, multi-sensory journey into the worlds of two legendary painters.

Marking its European debut, Beyond Monet features an all-new ‘exit room’ exclusive to Liverpool, a feature also introduced for Beyond Van Gogh. These immersive additions offer visitors an extended experience unlike anything seen elsewhere in the world.

The launch was celebrated with a special VIP event attended by the Lord Mayor, Cllr Barbara Murray, along with notable figures from Liverpool’s arts and entertainment scene, who were among the first to experience Beyond Monet.

Brought to the UK by Annerin Productions and Paquin Entertainment Group, Beyond Monet: The Immersive Experiencehas already captivated audiences across North America. Following its Liverpool run, the exhibition will head to Edinburgh this Christmas.

Through over 400 of Monet’s masterpieces, including Poppies, Impression: Sunrise, and his renowned Water Lilies series, the experience uses state-of-the-art technology to envelop guests in a vivid, audio-visual celebration of the artist’s life and legacy. Lesser-known works also feature, providing fresh perspectives and a deeper emotional connection to Monet’s creative world.

Inspired by Paris’ Musée de l’Orangerie, the permanent home of Monet’s murals, the centrepiece Infinity Room allows visitors to wander freely through swirling projections, accompanied by an evocative original score.

Meanwhile, Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience showcases more than 300 of Van Gogh’s iconic works, including The Starry Night, Sunflowers, and Café Terrace at Night, brought to life through a blend of visual projection and a specially curated soundtrack. The exhibition, which premiered in Liverpool in 2024 to critical acclaim, has already attracted over seven million visitors globally.

Both exhibitions now include specially designed exit rooms unique to their Liverpool run. In Beyond Van Gogh, guests follow a winding path through Sunflower Alley, flanked by larger-than-life blooms and immersive projections of Vincent’s homes and landscapes, with benches to sit, reflect, and soak in the calm.

Beyond Monet’s exit transports visitors to the artist’s garden at Giverny. A reimagined Waterlily Alley, complete with a replica of his iconic green bridge and archways of cascading blossoms, immerses visitors in the tranquility of Monet’s beloved sanctuary.

Soundscapes featuring birdsong from Normandy and Provence, along with subtle, natural scents, further enhance both experiences, creating a fully immersive and sensory encounter.

Tickets are available in a variety of formats, including VIP packages. New for 2025 are family tickets and parent-and-child bundles, offering savings on standard entry.

In addition, a programme of wellbeing and creative events will run alongside the exhibitions, including yoga, pilates, breathwork, meditation, and ‘paint and sip’ sessions, all hosted within the immersive environments.

Anna Parry, UK Business Development at Annerin Productions, said:

“We made a very deliberate choice of picking Liverpool to premiere Beyond Monet in the UK because of the phenomenal success of Beyond Van Gogh last summer – both in numbers, but also in the incredible support we had from the city.

“It’s a massive testament to the incredible Exhibition Centre Liverpool that they made it so easy for us, and it really felt like we were a family.

“So I’m really excited to be here for a second premiere, not only of Beyond Monet but also of the two new fabulous and reflective exit rooms which have never been seen anywhere else. They are stunning and full of incredible detail which is down to the vision of Normal Studio, based in Montreal, and the UK’s Production Solutions.

“I’m very proud of both Beyond Van Gogh and Beyond Monet and I know Liverpool will embrace both experiences, making this summer another memorable visit to this fantastic city.”

Speaking about the new Exit Rooms for both experiences, Mathieu St-Arnaud, Partner and Creative Director at Normal Studio, added:

“It is a very special moment for us, because we have had a dream – a technological dream, but we also wanted to create a physical experience for people so they could feel what it was like to step into one of these paintings.”
