‘A Thousand Feet Deep’ outdoor performance exploring the history of Knowsley arrives this October

A Thousand Feet Deep by Periplum is a dramatic outdoor performance spectacular exploring the history and spirit of Knowsley – in way you never will have imagined.

On Friday 7, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October Stadt Moers Park will be transformed to host this immersive experience that tells unique stories from the borough.

The 50-minute performance will take you on an atmospheric journey exploring Knowsley’s myths and folklore. Magical characters are calling from the quarrylands – the caverns, mines and secret tunnels where the traces of our ancestors’ labour and legends can still be found. A unique narrative of the borough begins to unfold exploring our industries and tales of the people that powered them.

Outdoor theatre makers, Periplum have worked with communities across the borough to gather stories, histories, myths and legends that will be translated into the performance, which will be accompanied by a soundtrack written by Barry Han, Mike Simmonds, Claire Raftery & Damian Wright.

When and where is this taking place?

Friday 7 October, Saturday 8 October and Sunday 9 October (8.30pm)

Stadt Moers Park
Pottery Lane
Whiston
L35 3RG

Do I need tickets to attend?

Yes this is a ticketed event and everyone will need a ticket to access the performance.

How do I get tickets?

Tickets can be booked online here.

Knowsley residents will be given priority when the tickets are first released.

A small number of tickets have already been issued to members of the local community who have been nominated by their neighbours to attend.

Is there a cost?

There is a small charge of £2 per ticket to cover admin costs.

Is there an age restriction for the October performances?
A Thousand Feet Deep is an atmospheric and immersive experience that uses music, pyrotechnics and fire. Some smaller children may find A Thousand Feet Deep scary, and we advise that performances are more suitable for those age 8 and above.

How do I get to the event?
Details about access and parking will be shared with ticket holders closer to the event.

Can I get more involved?

As well as entertaining thousands of people each evening, organisers are looking for 22 local people to get more involved and become part of the performance.

You don’t need to be an actor, singer or dancer but just a Knowsley resident with a desire to be part of this amazing experience.

You will work with a team of expert practitioners, who will give you on-site training and workshops in outdoor performance. During the show you will accompany the action, moving through the audience as part of a team, with visual props, fire torches and other pyrotechnic effects.

Anyone interested in volunteering to take part in A Thousand Feet Deep should be aware of the following:
