Chef Paul Askew ‘Wows’ Diners at The Art School Takeover at LOST

Local fine dining fans headed to LOST last Thursday night to experience all the magic of Liverpool’s celebrated ‘The Art School’ restaurant with Chef Paul Askew.

Paul and his talented team, headed over to Wirral for ‘one night only’ to take over the kitchens at LOST and bring a taste of city centre wizardry to the charming barn venue.

Guests were treated to a world-class menu packed full of the finest local produce, matched with leading wines from some of the most celebrated vineyards in Europe.

The evening kicked off with a drink’s reception, which included a glass of The Art Schools signature Charles Heidsieck champagne, and a selection of beautifully curated ‘Chefs Snacks’, followed by a starter of Pan-seared Loch Fyne scallop, on a bed of creamed leeks with local Southport shrimps.

Next up, the Terrine of chalk stream trout, halibut, and tiger prawn, was served with LOST’s neighbours’ Claremont Farm asparagus and Sauce Bavaroise.

The main event consisted of Fillet of Cumbrian Galloway beef, with beef fat potatoes, pressed terrine of ox cheek, Sauce Soubise, pickled walnut puree and tarragon jus, and the exquisite evening concluded with an Enrtement of Claremont Farm strawberries with white chocolate and basil.

LOST owner, Dave Loughlin said that the night had been the pinnacle of the venue’s eclectic ‘supper club’ concept to date:

‘Persuading Paul to come over to LOST with his incredible ‘The Art School’ concept has been at the top of our wish list since day one. To see the level of food he and his team delivered from our small kitchen, the magic of the service and the amazing feedback from guests, was really quite something, and we can’t thank him enough for agreeing to collaborate with us.’

The night, which was a sell-out, has been a real highlight of the venue’s ever-changing dining calendar, and Chef Paul Askew has now announced that he will be returning to LOST in July, this time with his acclaimed Barnacle restaurant.’

Speaking about the evening, Chef Askew said:

‘We have really loved working with the team at LOST and for me, it’s been very special to be back here on ‘home turf’ with my amazing team, doing what we love, in such a stunning venue. We can’t wait to see what our lovely Wirral guests think of Barnacle when we head back over the water on 19th July. It will be a more informal dining experience, packed with global flavours but still showcasing the incredible local growers and produce we are lucky enough to have on our doorstep.’
