March With Pride returns to Liverpool for biggest year yet

Liverpool’s annual March With Pride is set to return for a weekend of celebration and protest in 2024, with tens of thousands of people expected to participate.

On 27th of July, the Pride in Liverpool event will include the March With Pride event, which is organized by LCR Pride Foundation – the charity that supports the LGBT+ community in Liverpool City Region.

Last year, the march saw an impressive turnout of 20,000 individuals, breaking the previous year’s record of 15,000 attendees. The march was organized in partnership with KyivPride, aimed at showing solidarity with Ukraine. The theme of the march, ‘Shout It Loud’, urged the local LGBT+ community to embrace and take pride in their unique identities.

The procession is scheduled to begin at noon from St. George’s Hall Plateau. It will then proceed through the city centre and the Pride Quarter before arriving at the renowned Waterfront.

The participation of LGBT+ individuals, allies, organisations and community groups are invited by LCR Pride Foundation for the march.

Registration is now open here.

Andi Herring, CEO of LCR Pride Foundation, said:

“March With Pride continues to grow each year and this year promises to be no different. We look forward to welcoming thousands of LGBT+ people and allies to the city for what is looking to be our biggest year yet.

“Not only is it a chance for Liverpool City Region’s LGBT+ people to come together to celebrate one another, but it also gives us the opportunity to protest against the prejudices and inequalities that our communities face.

“In the last year, LGBT+ people and particularly trans members of our community have been attacked and undermined. However, we refuse to be silenced and our voices need to be heard more than ever before. This is our time to stand up and peacefully demonstrate that we are united against all forms of hate, discrimination and oppression.”

Further announcements about Pride in Liverpool are to follow in coming weeks.
