Christmas Story Trail is back at Calderstones Park

Christmas Story Trail is back at Calderstones Park

The Reader’s Christmas programme for 2023 includes a family-friendly Christmas Story Trail through Liverpool’s iconic park.

The Storybarn team invites families to explore the children’s book A Message for Santa, written by Hiawyn Oram and illustrated by Tony Ross (The Little Princess, Horrid Henry, and many more) in the heart of Calderstones Park.

The self-guided trail lasts approximately 90 minutes and offers activities inspired by the book for children to complete throughout the park. It runs every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between November 25 and December 23, with time slots beginning at 10am.

A family ticket costs £12.99 and includes a map and pencil for each child, as well as a copy of A Message from Santa for each family to keep.

The story is about Emily, who loves everything about Christmas except Santa! While Emily wants to block the chimney to prevent Santa from entering, her mother inspires her to write Santa a note instructing him to enter through the back door and go no further than the kitchen table! Will Santa earn Emily’s forgiveness?

The Reader charity, which uses the power of literature and reading aloud to transform lives across the UK, is also seeking donations to help it reach a £10,000 holiday fundraising goal to support the First Page project, which reads with children and their families in the Liverpool City Region.

A Message for Santa Outdoor Trail kicks off from Saturday 25 November – Saturday 23 December and tickets are priced at £12.99 per family, book now here.
