Hundreds of talented children from the Liverpool City Region will officially kick off Christmas at Liverpool ONE as part of a brand new festive extravaganza.
As the retail and entertainment destination prepares for Liverpool ONE Christmas Live! on Friday, November 17, plans for an evening of nonstop music, singing, and dancing have been revealed.
The event will showcase the talents of hundreds of local schoolchildren and community groups as they perform across multiple stages, helping to spread yuletide cheer as Christmas swings into action. This is a first for Liverpool ONE’s festive celebrations.
Aerial performances, magical pop-up pantomimes, and the opportunity to take selfies in front of a series of festive light installations round out the lineup.
In addition, the much-loved all-singing, all-dancing elves from The Hammond School will return for the evening, ensuring everyone gets into the party spirit.
The Liverpool Empire Creative Learning team will deliver a Christmas-themed workshop to 30 Year 3 pupils at Ranworth Square Primary School in Norris Green this week to mark the project’s launch and as part of a special Eurovision legacy.
Over the coming months, the Empire team and professionals from the theatre industry will work closely with schoolchildren of all ages from 20 schools across Liverpool, Wirral, Knowsley, St Helens, Warrington, Halton and Sefton, alongside the Liverpool Empire Youth Theatre Academy, to create a number of performances created exclusively for Liverpool ONE Christmas Live!
Natalie Flynn, Senior Creative Learning Manager at The Liverpool Empire Theatre, said:
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Liverpool ONE this Christmas to celebrate family, magic, wishes and dreams, which are such important elements of the festive period.
“Helping young people in our community unlock their potential is a true passion of mine and I can’t wait for us to share everything we have in store this Christmas!”
The popular Bar Hütte, which will be located in Chavasse Park beneath the giant Christmas tree, will also be back this year.
Bar Hütte at Chavasse Park, Liverpool ONE, is set to be a must-visit attraction for families and groups of friends alike, with cosy karaoke huts and a party lodge, as well as an alpine bar serving delicious winter warmer cocktails, beers and wines.
For the first time this year, Bar Hütte will also host wreath-making sessions, ‘Movie Sundays,’ a festive ‘After School Club’ and sensory classes.
Callum Winsper, Operations Manager at Bar Hütte, said:
“We are thrilled to be bringing Bar Hütte back to Liverpool ONE once again, for our seventh year. The festive karaoke and private hüttes seem to have become a staple for Christmas in the city and we are so proud to be a part of this.
“We’re delighted to be pride of place at Chavasse Park, and can’t wait to welcome groups, colleagues, couples and families in just a few months’ time.”
As part of the countdown to Christmas at Liverpool ONE, there will once again be light installations and Christmas choirs performing across the estate, plus a 25-metre Christmas tree taking centre stage on Chavasse Park.
And, with more yet to be announced, the festive season is shaping up to be the best yet at the retail and entertainment destination.
Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director at Liverpool ONE, said:
“Christmastime, especially the countdown, is always an incredibly special time at Liverpool ONE and across the wider city.
“For the first time, we are thrilled to be welcoming onboard local young people to be part of our celebrations and showcasing their amazing talents. Our launch night is a real centrepiece in our calendar but, this year, it feels even bigger and better.
“Visitors will have a chance to experience some of the city’s best performing talent from a strong line-up of winter shows and pantomimes. And, there’s still more to reveal, which we can’t wait to announce in the coming weeks!”
