Following the popular indoor water park’s reopening, more than 3,000 people went to Splash World Southport over the late May Bank Holiday weekend.
Sefton Council is thrilled to announce the return of Splash World’s Inclusive Nights for people with various disabilities in the wake of the incredibly successful reopening.
The exclusive events, also known as “Quiet Nights,” are specific nights held at the indoor water park and created to create a calming and enjoyable environment for those who are neurodiverse or have disabilities.
During the Inclusive Nights sessions, access is also given to the child’s parents, carers, family and friends so they can all enjoy the Splash World facilities together.
Cllr Ian Moncur, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said:
“The response to the announcement that Splash World is reopening has been incredible.
“So many people can’t wait to get back in the water and that includes our children and young people who are differently abled or are neurodiverse.
“Our Inclusive Nights sessions are hugely popular with dimmed lighting, reduced noise and specialist equipment to aid and increase enjoyment without overstimulation.
“I know this news will be warmly welcomed by our families in Sefton who have children who are neurodiverse and we have already received messages of thanks by parents for bringing these sessions back.”
Cllr Mhairi Doyle, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Social Care, said:
“Sefton Council is wholly committed to doing as much as we can to provide activities and events for our children and young people who may otherwise find it difficult to enjoy certain settings.
“Splash World is no different and we all know how loud and wild this fantastic indoor water park can get when people are enjoying themselves!
“That’s why we created Inclusive Nights as a bespoke way of making sure those who are neurodiverse or differently abled get the maximum enjoyment out of a trip to Splash World.
“This is a perfect example of departments across the council putting our children at the heart of everything we do and I cannot wait to see Inclusive Nights return.”
