Liverpool energy firm leading the way as part of national government energy saving scheme

  • February 22, 2023

A Liverpool based business is leading the way in decarbonisation after installing energy saving measures in more than one hundred homes from around the region.

Working in partnership with Prima Housing Group, Ecogee helped to deliver solid wall insulation and helped to significantly reduce carbon emissions to properties across the North West, as part of Wave 1 of the Government’s Social Housing Decarbonation Fund (SHDF).

Due to 115 properties being completed three months early, an extra 70 homes were added to the project by Liverpool City Region, which are now expected to be completed by June of this year.

Through these works, which took over 8 months to complete, the firm, led by Managing Director Brendan Helm, has secured an additional revenue of £1.2million.

Brendan said:

“As a business, we have always been fervent about making homes energy efficient and we have really established ourselves within the industry, not just locally but now nationally. We deliver on time and on budget and it’s great to be able to say that by the end of this scheme, we will have helped over 180 families tackle fuel poverty during some of the toughest winter months to date.

“People have always been at the forefront of what we do, whether it’s those who work for us or those we aim to support by providing our services, and it’s working on schemes like this that remind us of the truly positive impact we can have on communities and individual lives.”

Wave 2 of the SHDF will be released later in the year with Ecogee and Prima Housing Group hoping to secure a further £8million worth of funding over the next three years.

Brendan added:

“As energy prices continue to soar, it’s vital that with the right support and funding we are able to continue to improve the energy efficiency of homes.”

Ecogee has been paving the way in energy efficiency and home insulation in the city since 2012 and has most recently been selected by local authorities such as Sefton Council in a bid to increase the energy efficiency of low-income and low EPC rated homes across the borough.

As part of the Government’s Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery (LAD2) scheme, 222 properties have received external wall insulation, cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, solar PV, and window replacements thanks to Ecogee’s 70-strong team.

Brendan added:

“As we continue to grow and expand as a business, our role has never been so important. We will continue to strive to do whatever we can to ensure that all the homes we work on are properly insulated.

“Everyone has the right to stay warm and if we can be part of the movement that makes that happen, then that’s half of our mission completed.”
