Liverpool’s multi award winning restaurant, Amalia, is celebrating its 10 year anniversary and has recently been given a stylish new look.
The family friendly Italian restaurant, opened by Miguel and Antonio in 2012, has consistently been a firm favourite amongst Liverpool diners — with countless 5 star reviews over the years.
Nestled away in Campbell Square just off Duke Street and Hanover Street, Amalia offers top quality Italian cuisine and service with a smile in a fun, relaxed environment. It’s a popular destination for families and large groups celebrating special occasions and the courtyard is a big hit in the warmer months.
The 10 year milestone has been reached with many awards in the bag. Amalia has won Best Pizza In England twice and Best Team in England in the National Italian Awards, whilst Antonio was Chef Of The Year in 2018. In addition to this, the restaurant has won multiple Liverpool Lifestyle Awards, the Liverpool Food & Drink Festival twice and The Positive Award.
To celebrate their 10th birthday, the restaurant has had a gorgeous new makeover — with features such as a selfie swing, floral wall and a stunning mural of Rome. There’s also a special lunch offer of a pizza or pasta dish plus a drink for just £10.95 Mon-Fri 12pm-5pm and their famous ‘Calzone Challenge’ is still a big hit amongst the braver diners.
Owner Miguel Quepo said: “It feels great to reach 10 years as a Liverpool restaurant. There are many fantastic restaurants in this city and we are a little hidden off the beaten track so it’s an achievement we’re very proud of. It’s taken a lot of hard work and consistency.”
He continued: “The staff have a crucial role to play in our success over the years and we’ve reached this milestone due to the environment they create. We’re a very family orientated restaurant with a very fun and friendly atmosphere — of course, we pride ourselves on top quality cuisine but it’s the staff who make the experience magical for our customers.”
Miguel and Antonio call their team and customers ‘La FAmalia’ and one of the key reasons for their ongoing success is the people who continue to return to their ‘favourite restaurant’. Community is an important part of the Amalia ethos and they supplied many free meals to NHS staff during the pandemic, as well as being regular sponsors of the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament.
Miguel summarized: “We’ve created something very special here and so many celebrations and good times have been had over the last 10 years. So many birthdays, engagements and celebrations have taken place here and we like to think it’s more than just a restaurant — it’s a family.”
