Tapas Revolution delivers Paella to The Whitechapel Centre ahead of Christmas

  • December 23, 2021
  • Editor

Tapas Revolution has brought the festive spirit to The Whitechapel Centre with its Paella With Purpose pledge.

Tapas Revolution and Executive Chef Omar Allibhoy created Paella With Purpose – a charitable initiative to support vulnerable communities, providing hot, fresh and filling meals where so many may be struggling or going without, as well as raising crucial funds to support the vital work charities do in the local community.

Helping to combat hunger and homelessness, Omar spent the afternoon cooking enormous paellas until 100 portions of fresh paella were made and ready to deliver to The Whitechapel Centre.

The Whitechapel Centre works tirelessly to prevent and resolve homelessness in the city by providing tailored support so that each person can find a route out of homelessness.

The charity has multiple projects within the city, including the Harm Reduction Hostel on Aigburth Drive. This particular initiative supports men who need to manage their alcohol use, helping them to reduce the negative consequences of alcohol use.

He said: “At Tapas Revolution, we’re so much more than a restaurant. Within each city, we want to connect with people; our guests, local businesses, and our communities. Christmas is a time for giving, even more so right now with how difficult circumstances have been due to the pandemic. Paella With Purpose was designed to support vulnerable people and those who are less fortunate. We want to support them with a gesture of a hot meal that’s fresh and filling.

“Visiting The Whitechapel Centre’s Harm Reduction Hostel was incredibly humbling and I was so privileged to meet the residents of the hostel and the fantastic team at The Whitechapel Centre. They do incredible work there and we’re so glad that we could help in some way this Christmas.”

Ruth McCaughley, Fundraising Manager at The Whitechapel Centre, added: “We loved having a visit from Omar to deliver 100 paella meals for our service users. It was a lovely treat and for many it was their first time trying paella and it went down really well.

“Christmas is a particularly emotional and challenging time for anyone who is homeless and not with their loved ones so it is really lovely to know that people are thinking of them and doing something special. We’re really grateful to all at Tapas Revolution for supporting us in this way.”

Tapas Revolution is encouraging everyone to get involved and support The Whitechapel Centre and the homeless throughout the festive period and during the winter months.
