SERIES TWO – EDITION NINETEEN
In edition nineteen of our ‘Faces behind the Business’ series, we caught up with Nicole Francis aged 37, owner of Lip Couture & Couture Training Academy; a super salon, spa holistics & training academy.
When did you first get into the industry?
first got into the industry when I won a TV programme ‘Coleens Real Women’ with Coleen Rooney on ITV2. My background had been in Radio Sales. As part of the prize for winning the programme I became the face of International brand ‘Fake Bake’ with a years modelling contract and also a package to set up my own spraytan business. That boomed very quickly, then after me having my own eyebrows tattooed, I asked my clients would they have their brows tattooed and they said absolutely, so I knew there was a large market for it. So I went and trained in the full face of Semi-Permanent Makeup after having done Art throughout my life, I wanted to transfer my artistic skills into the art of Semi-Permanent world.
I opened my first Salon 10Years ago at the age of 26. Before I had even opened the doors,we did some filming on Liverpool Reality Programme ‘Desperate Scousewives’ where I was tattooing one of the cast members Gill O Toole. When this aired my business of Semi-Permanent make up went crazy with clients coming from Newcastle, Essex, Marbella and even as far as Quatar who watched the programme. Very quickly my Salon became a SuperSalon adding allServices with top specialists in their field where today we now have a 13 member strong team covering everything from Hair, Body Slimming, Face, Aesthetics and Holistics. And continues to grow.
4 years ago we started to work on our Training academy ……Couture Training Academy , with all our specialists tutoring to transfer all their skills over to the students. We’ve used Covid to build and finish our extension off fir the academy and so excited to launch fully. During covid we also added our Online training academy so people can learn a lot of the theory in the comfort of their own home.
