St George’s Hall Liverpool is to host a huge pop gala on Saturday 23rd November.
The glamorous showcase, which will feature legendary pop queens Sonia, Sinitta, Sybil, Tina Cousins, Rachel McFarlane, Haywoode, and Maggie K De Monde with guest presenters Josselyn from Boy Krazy and Denise Waterman of Tight Fit, is being organised by Feelgood Events concept Cheer Up Pop Party.
The special night is being hosted at St George’s Hall in celebration of 40 years of Stock Aitken Waterman and the Hit Factory. The songwriting and record production trio, founded in 1984, was responsible for some of the biggest pop hits from the mid-80s onwards, from Kylie and Steps to Bananarama and Rick Astley to Donna Summer and Dead Or Alive, as well as over 100 Top 40 hits.
The fabulous event starts at 5pm and will feature hit after hit of legendary pop hits from legendary pop divas. Set in one of Liverpool’s most stunning buildings, the event will be one of the largest showcases of the last 12 years of Cheer Up Pop Party, an inclusive feel-good concept that came about in 2012 with Mario Kyriacou there from the start.
With over 100 events throughout the UK during that time, Cheer Up Pop Party has gained a cult following due to the high energy, feelgood parties they host. Founded at City Of Quebec gay club in London, hundreds of thousands of people have attended their many events in London, Manchester and Liverpool. This latest event is set to be one of their biggest to date.
Cheer Up Pop Party’s Mario Kyriacou said:
“Cheer Up Pop Party began back in July 2012 after the Hit Factory event in London’s Hyde Park had been cancelled due to bad weather. With 1000’s of fans left disappointed on a rainy Wednesday in July, we created an impromptu meet up at London’s oldest LGBTQI+ venue, City Of Quebec, for an All Day Stock Aitken Waterman & PWL party! Cheer Up was born.”
“Now having celebrated a decade since Cheer Up Pop party was born, we’ve hosted some amazing events featuring the likes of Sinitta, Hazell Dean, Samantha Fox, Sonia, Sybil and Nicki French to name a few. We’ve been hosting events at London’s Royal Vauxhall Tavern for two years in September which Lily Savage famously performed in back in the day as well as Lady Diana apparently went in disguise there with Freddy Mercury on a night out in the 80s!”
On the night, attendees of the unique gala will be able to enjoy a nostalgic trip through the history of pop. Expect classics such as So Macho, Pray, Lover, Take Me To The Clouds Above, Better The Devil You Know, The Love I Lost, You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You, Toy Boy, Listen To Your Heart, Killin Time, When I’m Good And Ready, Counting Every Minute, Rose’s, Getting Closer and No Memories.
