This December, Father Christmas will make a special appearance at Speke Hall for a day of family fun, and there will be plenty of other ways for visitors to get into the Christmas spirit as well.
The National Trust property will be transformed by the sights, sounds, and scents of traditional Victorian and Tudor Christmases on weekends throughout the festive period. From November 24 to December 10, the Tudor mansion will be open for visitors to experience the unique feeling of a Speke Hall Christmas every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
In the final weeks of December, families can enjoy Breakfast with Father Christmas events. Enjoy a delicious breakfast, a visit from Father Christmas, and a gift to take home. Tickets are available for tables of 2, 3, 4, and 6, with slots available on the mornings of December 15, 18, 19, and 20.
Visitors can sign up for a peaceful drawing session in the inspiring surroundings of Speke Hall’s Great Hall, which has been decorated for Christmas, on Friday 1 December, as Shakespeare North hosts a relaxed Elizabethan portrait drawing session.
Kids can participate in creative activities as well, with weekend craft workshops in the Events Room between 11.30am and 2pm. On the 2nd and 3rd of December, children can make pomanders, sugar mice on the 9th and 10th of December, and Christmas paper decorations on the 16th and 17th of December.
Visitors can embrace the estate’s wilder side, with its acres of woodland, meadows, and neighbouring coastal reserve, on a Winter Ranger Ramble, where they’ll learn about the estate’s characters, history, and habitats while enjoying a warming walk in the winter air.
Speke Hall’s Home Farm restaurant will also be serving up some Christmas-time specials and a cosy atmosphere for those looking to escape the cold, while Speke’s Volumes, the property’s secondhand bookshop, will be selling plenty of classic, modern, vintage, and children’s books, perfect for Christmas day.
Tickets for all events are available online at Speke Hall’s website or by phone at 0344 249 1895. Non-National Trust members must pay regular property admission prices in addition to the ticket price. Event ticket prices remain the same for National Trust members.
