Project launches to connect people on furlough with organisations in need across the North West

  • April 14, 2020
  • Editor

During the Covid-19 outbreak a large percentage of people have been placed on furlough by their organisations, meaning that they cannot continue to undertake work for their employer whilst the government covers 80% of their salary.

Project Give Back has been created to allow these individuals to volunteer and continue to use their skill set to help support local independent organisations or charities who are struggling at this time.

The project is being launched by Nathan Selby alongside Emily Crawford, currently on Furlough herself with the Ambassador Theatre Group:

“We know there are people who are still really keen to put any of their skills to use, we can see that clearly from the fantastic volunteers we’ve already had register with backgrounds in journalism, Web design, video creation, languages, coaching and mentoring, we’ve also had people register just to let us know they have a car and can help with deliveries – the list goes on. We also know that in particularly challenging circumstances people want to rally together, our hope is to skills match and connect our volunteers to organisations across the north west in need of more support at the moment. It’s a strange time for everyone but we’d like to create something positive from it”

How can we help?

This is a really challenging time for independent organisations who still need to function in a climate none of us have faced before.

There are hundreds if not thousands of people with a variety of interests, abilities and skills who are currently placed on furlough willing and able to support your organisation.

If you think you could benefit from volunteer support, whether this is strategic, digital, HR related or you need more hands on deck for deliveries then we’re keen to hear from you.

Some of the skills available include:

Design – flyers, social media images, website graphics
SEO – helping you get your website to the top of search results (Google, Bing)
Admin – helping you keep on top of enquiries, customer orders, and more!
Social media – helping you promote your organisation
CV Writing
Tutoring
Languages
& translation

Volunteers can register their skills and organisations can register for support at www.projectgiveback.co.uk
