Liverpool John Lennon Airport launched the Liverpool Airport Community Fund today to further develop and enhance its commitment to local communities and improve the surrounding environment.

Funds will be allocated annually to support community-benefiting projects that fulfil specific requirements, such as improving the local environment, promoting education, enhancing community facilities, and advancing various sustainability initiatives.

Up to a maximum of £3,000 in grants will be available for local groups or organisations to apply for. These applications will then be reviewed by a Community Fund Management Group, which will include local community representatives. The management group will hold twice-yearly meetings to thoroughly assess each application and make use of their local knowledge and experience to guarantee that the fund is used to benefit the community as much as possible in the long run.

Grants will be prioritised for projects that benefit communities in Eastham, Garston, Hale, Halebank, Ditton, Halewood, Hunts Cross, Runcorn and Speke.

Carol Dutton, Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s HR & Community Director commented:

“This is the first time that we have introduced such a fund that will hopefully help to make a difference for some local good causes and if successful, we hope to grow the scheme bringing wider benefits in the future.

We know that so much goes on locally by community groups and volunteers perhaps helping friends and neighbours of all ages who may be less fortunate and creating environments for local communities to enjoy. We’ll be delighted if we can help such groups by providing some much needed financial support to help them continue the fantastic work they do.”

Relevant local community groups and organisations are invited to apply for this financial support by filling in our application form which can be found on our website.

The first committee meeting will be held in mid-March and the last date for submissions is Wednesday 6th March 2024.
