Liverpool Cathedral Sleepout returns to support homelessness

Bookings are now being accepted for the Liverpool Cathedral Sleepout. This yearly event, which allows participants to spend the night sleeping inside the country’s largest cathedral, is family-friendly and serves as a fundraiser for two local charities. It’s a unique opportunity to support a good cause while experiencing something out of the ordinary.

The Whitechapel Centre and the Cathedral are hoping that their efforts will enable people to comprehend how challenging it can be when they don’t have a secure place to stay for the night, despite the fact that it won’t be the same as being on the streets.

Liverpool Cathedral Sleepout returns to support homelessness

Toni-Marie, fundraiser at The Whitechapel Centre said:

“Liverpool is experiencing a homelessness crisis, with record numbers of people losing their home and sleeping rough. Everyone should have a place to call home – a nice comfy bed, hot food to eat, somewhere you can watch television, play games or read a book. Unfortunately, not everyone in our city has this. It is set to be an unforgettable night, with storytelling, arts and crafts, as well as prizes for the best ‘den’.”

Alex, fundraiser at Liverpool Cathedral, said:

“The current cost-of-living crisis is having a serious impact on our local communities; Liverpool Cathedral is a safe place for everyone in our city where they can spend time and reflect. We are delighted to be working with the Whitechapel Centre once again to raise funds through the Sleepout. It always great evening for families and groups to take part in together, with lots of fun activities.”

The Sleepout event at Liverpool Cathedral is scheduled for Friday 5th April 2024. Registration for the event is priced at £5 per person, and each participant is expected to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorships. The total amount raised will be equally divided between the two charities supported by the event.
