Ghoulish goings-on are coming to Calderstones Park as the Storybarn celebrates Halloween with some seriously spooky fun for children and families.
On Saturday 28 October (12.30pm), New York Times best-selling author-illustrator, Flavia Z. Drago (Gustavo, the Shy Ghost, Leila, the Perfect Witch) will be visiting the Storybarn to meet young book lovers and share a special reading of her brand-new children’s book, Vlad, the Fabulous Vampire.
Inspired by Flavia’s brilliant new book, the Storyhunters will also be hosting special Storybarn sessions on Saturday 28 October (10am) and Sunday 29 October (10am, 12.30pm) and Saturday 4 (10am) and Sunday 5 November (10am, 12.30pm).
Visitors young and old are invited to dress up in their favourite Halloween costumes for the sessions, which include an interactive reading of Vlad, the Fabulous Vampire, ghostly games and creepy crafts to take home. Copies of Flavia’s new book are available to pre-order when purchasing tickets and will be ready for collection on the day.
On Tuesday 31 October, (4.30-6pm) the Storybarn team will be getting the party started with The Monster’s Ball in the Mansion House in Calderstones Park.
The Halloween extravaganza promises to offer a frightening amount of fun for all the family, with dancing, games, tricks and treats aplenty. Ticket price includes a delightfully spooky children’s snack box.
Alongside the programme of Halloween events and activities, the Storybarn is also offering a half-term holiday club for children aged 5-10 from Tuesday 31 October to Friday 3 November.
Natalia Rojas, Storybarn Manager, said:
“We hope to bring a little Storybarn magic to as many families as possible this October half term – whether that’s through our special events, storytelling adventures or the holiday club.
“We’re looking forward to meeting lots of new and familiar faces, and getting to know Vlad, the Fabulous Vampire along with his creator, Flavia Drago. Thank you to our partner Walker Books for making Flavia’s Storybarn visit possible.”
