This November, the public is invited to a Festive Fun Day in Southport town centre.
This special community event will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 1pm to 5pm at the Lord Street Bandstand.
It will be jam-packed with great entertainment provided by a wide range of very talented local people and organisations.
Southport BID is organising it as a way to kick off the Christmas season in style.
Local dance groups such as Central Dance Studios, Express Performing Arts, DBA, Magic Movers, PQA Southport, and Wright’s Performing Arts will perform for visitors.
There will be bite-sized pantomimes from stars of The Atkinson’s Jack and the Beanstalk and Southport Little Theatre’s The Pied Piper.
Children will enjoy participating in StarKidz’s Frozen Singalong Show.
Kyle Shaw, Sherie Hartill, and Gabriel Amundsen will perform live music, and The Atkinson Wellbeing Choir, All Souls Choir, and SONG will lead the singing of traditional Christmas carols.
On-site face painting and the Queenscourt Hospice tombola will be available.
But watch out – those cheeky elves from StarKidz will be causing mischief within the crowd…
Visitors to The Atkinson on Lord Street on November 18th will also be able to enjoy surrounding activities such as a Festive Craft Workshop and a Christmas Arts and Crafts Market.
There will be a Santa’s Grotto at The Vincent Hotel, a Festive Fair inside Cambridge Walks, Christmas entertainment at The Entertainer, a BBQ at The Pavilion, and other activities to be announced.
After the Festive Fun Day, Father Christmas will join the Vincent Hotel to turn on their Christmas lights.
When Fun Day takes place, Southport will have a very festive feel, with Southport BID really making the town sparkle this Christmas.
The BID is making investments to bring the brand new The Bear and The Reindeer illuminations to town.
The new character installations will be installed in Southport’s Town Hall Gardens the week before the Festive Fun Day, on either side of the sparkling 60ft LED Christmas tree.
The Bear stands over 18ft tall, and the Reindeer stands over 13ft tall, making them ideal for family photos.
The festive attractions will complement the stunning ‘Boulevard of Light’ in a scheme led by Southport BID, which will see 300,000 lights installed along both sides of Lord Street by 2021, providing a significant boost to local shops, restaurants, bars, hotels, and guest houses.
Southport is definitely the place to be this Christmas.
