Liverpool is home to a lot of great coffee shops. We would never suggest that there are too many. Don’t let another Blue Monday get you down. Instead, check out some of the best Liverpool coffee shops.

With the city jam packed with some of the best coffee shops, we are here to help you explore a few of the best spots.

Whether it be a quick wakeup call before work, business meetings or just a catch up on the laptop, here’s a few places to try out.

Rose Lane Coffee

Located on the bustling and popular Rose Lane, this is one of the best independent coffee shops in Liverpool.

A large selection of fresh coffees is available, which are all first-rate, but make sure you visit the pastry counter for a sweet and tasty treat with your cuppa.

You won’t regret it. Not far from the truly iconic Penny Lane, the airy atmosphere and friendly staff top off the experience.

Rococo Coffee Liverpool

First established in 2008, Rococo is found inside the historic building on Lord Street that was once the head office for the Radio Caroline pirate station that was active during the 60’s. 

If you are fed up with the coffee chains taking your money and delivering subpar cuppas, then Rococo might restore your faith as it’s one of the best coffee shops in Liverpool city centre.

The staff are welcoming and hospitable, and the décor oozes a different class. That would be for nothing if the drinks weren’t up to scratch, though, and we can safely say that they are some of the best we’ve had in and around Liverpool.

Coffi

Another historic building home to yet another independent coffee shop is Coffi, found on Pilgrim Street in a Grade II listed coach house. From there, you have stunning views of the Church of England Cathedral, and while there is minimal seating available inside the shop at a long table, there are also four benches if you fancy drinking your coffee outside.

While there are some nice bits of grub and excellent staff, it’s the coffee you will want to go here to experience. Nat and Mike, the owners, have put a lot of effort into selecting fully traceable coffee from some of the best roasters in the UK and Europe. The varieties are rotated and changed every few weeks to keep things interesting, making this one of the best coffee shops in Liverpool.

Mother Espresso

It’s hard not to laugh and squint a little at the irony when you first arrive at The Tea Factory to enter the Mother Espresso coffee shop found on the ground floor. However, we implore you to do just that and take a chance on one of best coffee shops in Liverpool.

The owners and life-long partners, Wayne and Jayne, first established the shop in 2016 and offer a wide range of coffees, other drinks, and some genuinely mouthwatering food. Everything here is unique because it is made fresh on the day.

The Tea Factory is a modern co-working space, though Mother Espresso has quite a presence and its own entrance from Wood Street.

Lucy in the Sky

With its nod to Liverpool’s first sons, The Beatles, Lucy in the Sky has a long heritage within the city. It is owned by Lucy Jeffers, the daughter of Margie Boden. Margie ran a coffee shop called Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds that was part of Cavern Walks for over 20 years. 

Aside from the heritage, the coffee, locally sourced from Vauxhall, and the cakes from Three Graces based at Baltic Market, along with the Insta-ready décor, make this one of the best independent coffee shops in Liverpool.

Lovelocks Coffee Shop

Needing that perfect cup of fresh grounded locally roasted coffee to catapult you into your busy week? Then pull up a seat at Lovelocks Coffee Shop, not only bursting full of hearty freshly made food, the shops friendly staff are what make this one special place to visit.

Located on Old Haymarket, this quaint cosy haunt takes you away from the hustle and bustle from the busy city while sipping on a mug of coffee. Also offering a great variety on the menu board to suit vegans, veggies and carnivores, their cakes are also simply to die for.

Peaberry Coffee House & Kitchen
