Independent Liverpool fitness studio, Barre Balance is set to launch a corporate wellness campaign on 1st October, aimed at helping employers support their employees’ mental and physical health.

Barre Balance, the first dedicated space offering the ‘Barre’ concept in Liverpool, has announced its commitment to supporting local companies with ‘Bounce back with barre’ – an initiative providing one week of free online Barre Balance classes for each employee during October.

While employers generally take their duty of care responsibilities to their employees seriously, few could have incorporated the mental and physical health impacts of a global pandemic into their employment policies prior to this year.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) recently released figures revealing that more than 4 in 10 adults (44%) said their well-being has been affected by coronavirus.

Research has also shown that good mental health is linked to good physical health, with The Mental Health Foundation stating that research has shown that physical activity releases chemicals in the brain that make you feel good and improve general wellbeing.

Barre Balance’s founder, Natalie Butler, is passionate about the benefits of the barre practice, and explains why she feels it can help employers to support their staff at this time of huge change and uncertainty: “Practising barre is so good for people on just about every level: it increases flexibility, helps core strength, reduces stress and anxiety, strengthens and lengthens the body, clears the mind and promotes positive energy. Given the toll that the pandemic has taken and continues to take on the nation’s mental health – whether through bereavement, the impact of lockdown, financial worries, not to mention anxieties about continuing to work from home or going back to work in a public facing job – we at Barre Balance want to do our bit to help. We’ve experienced first-hand how life-enhancing the practice can be, and we want to pay that forward during these challenging times.”

Throughout October companies can sign up to the ‘Bounce back with barre’ programme which offers their employees one week of free classes at the Barre Balance virtual online studio.

Businesses can choose their week in October, starting from Monday 5th of October.  Companies can sign up to the programme now by emailing hello@barrebalance.co.uk.
