Exciting new Angel Wings light projection artwork and more festive favourites at Liverpool Cathedral

Liverpool Cathedral traditionally welcomes many visitors, with trips to Cathedral playing a big part in many family’s festive preparations each Christmas.

This year, the Cathedral team have worked hard to make visitor experience really enjoyable, but above all, as safe as possible.

Visitors can enjoy the following:

Angel Wings

Embrace the feeling of flight when you stand between Angel Wings in the Cathedral’s Derby Transept. Created by Luxmuralis, Angel Wings is a moving light projection artwork. At shoulder height, the Angel Wings’ feathers pulsate and change colour to a curated soundtrack.

An award-winning artistic collaboration, between Peter Walker sculptor, and composer David Harper, Luxmuralis is known for producing large-scale light and sound shows. They have now created an art form called Light Tags. It’s a type of light graffiti, projecting small light artworks on walls and buildings.

Specially designed for Liverpool Cathedral, Angel Wings is the first version of a Light Tag which Luxmuralis have created as an installation.

You can come along to Liverpool Cathedral to take photos of yourself and your loved ones with Angel Wings for free during our opening hours but you must book your visit through Eventbrite.

Christmas Shopping at Liverpool Cathedral Shop

Find inspiration for unique Christmas gifts or shop for unusual Christmas decorations to suit your pocket in the Cathedral Shop. You’ll find Cathedral Shop opening hours on the Christmas Opening Hours web page. You can browse and shop online.

Christmas Services and Events 2020

You can find details of Liverpool Cathedral’s Advent and Christmas services and events on the Events Pages. You’ll need to book your place(s) on Eventbrite.

We’d advise booking early to avoid disappointment as places are limited due to physical distancing guidelines and visitor number limits.
