A simple afternoon for Everton meant that Rafa Benitez got back to winning ways after the defeat to Aston Villa and the loss on penalties to QPR in the League Cup in the past week.
The Blues barely had to get out of first gear as The Canaries suffered their sixth straight defeat of the season without creating a clear-cut chance.
In the first half there was only one significant moment as it was a very lacklustre display from both sides.
However, the one significant moment gave the home side the lead.
Former Liverpool loanee Ozan Kabak put in a late challenge on midfielder Allan who was trying to squeeze through a gap to be able to either get an effort on goal or create a chance for a teammate.
The Brazilian went down, and referee David Coote only pointed for a goal kick however VAR looked at it and advised him to see it for himself.
So due to that Coote went to the monitor changed his decision and Everton had a penalty around the 28th minute.
Andros Townsend stepped up and made no mistake sending Tim Krul the wrong way after the Dutchman tried to get in his head by saying something just before the spot kick was dispatched.
Other than that, not much happened in the first 45 minutes with both teams struggling to create although Everton seemed very comfortable which was expected.
The second half began in similar fashion with Norwich constantly giving the ball away whenever they attempted to move into Everton’s half.
Townsend came close to getting his second of the game five minutes in as his strike with his weaker foot on the edge of the box went into the side netting.
Norwich soon after made Jordan Pickford make a save with a long-range effort from Mathias Normann.
It was a good athletic save from Pickford, but it was also simple enough just like the effort from Normann just before half-time.
After that Norwich City offered nothing more in attack and with 13 minutes left showed how poor they are as they lost the ball on the half-way line which led to serious consequences.
Demarai Gray picked the loose ball up and charged at the back line before laying it off perfectly for Abdoulaye Doucoure who tucked it past the helpless Krul for his second goal of the season.
Everton came so close to a third from a corner as Ben Godfrey attempted to prod the ball past Krul from close range, but it was a superb save from the goalkeeper as the pair shared a light-hearted embrace once the ball went out, due to being former teammates.
With two minutes to go it was great to see 18-year-old Lewis Dobbin get his Premier League debut.
Three points and a clean sheet for Everton meant they moved up to fifth in the table.
The win at Goodison Park meant that Everton had won their first three home games of a campaign for the first time since 1989.
