Tyred UK win fight for change #TyredWin

Monday 1st February marks the day that the team behind Tyred UK have been longing to hear since the tragic coach incident that happened back on 10th September 2012.

After a coach crashed on its way back from a festival due to tyres nearly 20 years old on the vehicle, three people sadly lost their lives, Michael Molloy aged 18, Kerry Ogden aged 23 and Colin Daulby aged 63.

Tyred UK win fight for change #TyredWin

Since the incident Tyred UK have endless been campaigning for a legislation to be put into place to force a ban on the use of tyres 10 years or older on buses, coaches, minibuses and good vehicles.

From the 1st February the new legislation has now been enforced, making the UK’s roads a much safer place due to the courageous fight fought by Tyred UK.

The Tyred UK campaign led by Liverpool’s Frances Molloy, the mother of Michael, can feel like some sort of justice has been done for her son and the others who lives were sadly taken.

After long years of determination and tirelessly fighting #TyredWin the incredible campaign will be vital and could save lives.

Construction and Use Regulations will not allow tyres which are more than ten years old be used on the front steered axles of lorries, buses, coaches or for single wheels fitted to a minibus.

The legislation which had previously been rejected by parliament eight times, seen the change in law announced by roads minister Baroness Vere last July.
