Liverpool ONE music festival Tickle the Ivories returns!

Liverpool ONE’s Tickle the Ivories Piano Festival has returned for its 10th year!

Scaled back and COVID-secure, the event still promises to wow visitors and bring smiles to faces as music once again fills the shopping and leisure environment.

The event was launched by youngster Harrison Crane, who wowed visitors when he appeared at Liverpool ONE last year with his outstanding skills performing classic 90s dance anthems. Following his Liverpool ONE appearance, he was later asked to perform on national TV.

And even during lock-down he performed as part of Liverpool ONE’s Tickle at Home event, generating more than 26-million views across his videos!

This year’s event sees two pianos, both with social distancing signage, hand sanitisers and wipes, located at the retail destination.

One will be positioned at Sugar House Steps, opposite John Lewis and the second in College Lane, outside Waterstones.

Donna Howitt, Marketing Director at Liverpool ONE, said: “We are delighted to have been able to bring back Tickle this year.

“It will obviously be an adapted festival to ensure we are Covid-secure but most importantly music will once again be filling our retail and leisure environment for everyone to enjoy.

“Clear signage will be in place ensuring people do not gather around the pianos and maintain safe social distancing at all times and we would encourage everyone to follow this guidance to ensure a successful and enjoyable festival for all.”

Liverpool ONE is once again working in conjunction with Open Culture this year which is programming a series of performances throughout the festival, which runs until September 30th.

Anyone who would like to apply to be a part of this should contact: openculture.wufoo.com/forms/apply-to-perform-at-tickle-the-ivories-2020

Pianists can also book a general slot by emailing: Tickle@liverpool-one.com.

During these slots people can either busk or collect for a charity.

Since Tickle the Ivories launched, the event has racked up millions of views on social media as shoppers have been treated to impromptu performances on the pianos located across Liverpool ONE. Performers from all walks of life have performed an impressive array of music from classical to their take on the latest charts.
