Community wellbeing hubs launched across Merseyside by LFC Foundation

Community wellbeing hubs launched across Merseyside by LFC Foundation

LFC Foundation is teaming up with community centres across Merseyside to launch a series of community wellbeing hubs that will provide a range of programmes and support for young people and families in 2021.

From January onwards the charity will work together with partner venues across the region to deliver a wide range of activities designed to bring communities back together and to improve the general health and wellbeing of local people.

The first four hubs, based in The Brunny, Bootle, The Hive Youth Zone, Birkenhead, Northwood Community Centre, Kirkby and The Tiber Centre, Toxteth will offer easy-to-access programmes such as sport activities, social action, volunteering, health and wellbeing, employability and more. They will also help to break down barriers that some members of the community experience when accessing programmes, such as proximity to home, cost and travel.

During the current national lockdown, whilst most in person sessions are paused in line with Government guidelines, there will be various safe, virtually delivered programmes on offer to young people and families to access across Liverpool City Region via the hub network.

The hubs have been developed as part of a £2.6m funding package secured from the Steve Morgan Foundation and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). The funds were awarded to enable LFC Foundation to reach more disadvantaged young people and families, and to support the city region’s ongoing recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic.

LFC Foundation is encouraging young people and families to attend a local centre once restrictions are lifted and to find out more about the programmes on offer and how the charity can support them. All hubs and activities are free to attend and will provide a safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of personal circumstances.

Matt Parish, Director at LFC Foundation, said:

“We’re delighted to be kicking-off the new year, albeit in difficult circumstances, by launching four new LFC Foundation Community Wellbeing Hubs that will bring much needed support and stability to people in our local area.

“As part of the greatest football family in the world we want to look out for each other and play our part. The new hubs will enable us to deliver a range of accessible programmes in the heart of communities across the Liverpool City Region and directly support thousands of young people and their families with the services and opportunities they need. We can’t wait to start welcoming people.”
