This May will see the 5th Run For 96/5K take place at Stanley Park, with this year’s event set to be more memorable with the Hillsborough timeline reaching 30 years on 15th April.
The landmark date will involve participants donning a commemorative purple t-shirt, symbolising the coming together of reds and blue in one magnificent city. Race date will be on Saturday 11thMay starting from 9.30am, with a distance of 5K to cover around the go-between space of both grounds, Stanley Park.
Anyone in the world can now run thanks to the introduction of the “virtual” run for this special year. The 96/5K now has three classifications of runner, firstly those that enter and attend the main event in Stanley Park on 11th May, and in addition this is now a virtual run for UK and international runners! All you have to do is enter via the UK or international button on www.btrliverpool.com and your event medal, t-shirt and run number will be sent to you in advance of the race date, allowing you to run a 5K distance at a time of your choosing – in your event t-shirt and with your medal.
The entry fee for the 5K is £20.00, Virtual 5K £22.00, Virtual International £26.00 and entry for 1-mile Fun Run is £10.00.
Beginner runners or those who haven’t pulled on their training shoes for a while are encouraged to take their first step by joining sessions being supported by the LFC Foundation, Everton in the Community, Stanley Park CIC, and Liverpool City Council’s Fit For Me programme.
The Stanley Park sessions run on Saturday mornings. Meet at the Isla Gladstone Conservatory at 11am. Everyone welcome. The sessions will run each week culminating with Run For The 96 5K on Saturday 11 May 2019.
