West Ham dropped points, Spurs and Everton dropped points, Chelsea and Leicester City did not play.
Therefore this game is massive.
If Liverpool win here they will move into fourth place.
Of course Chelsea and Leicester will have a game in hand but still it’ll be great for Jurgen Klopp’s men to be back in the top four.
First of all though they have to overcome Marcelo’s Bielsa’s Leeds United who in the first game of the season gave Liverpool one almighty scare.
Mohamed Salah had to bail his teammates out with an 88th minute penalty to win the match that ended up finishing 4-3.
It was a sign of things to come from Leeds who have been a breath of fresh air in the Premier League this season and are on track for a top half finish in their first season after promotion.
One of the reasons for how impressive they’ve been is Patrick Bamford who has scored 14 goals and also got seven assists.
In his press-match press conference Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Bamford saying: “What a player!
“Before the season I heard on talkSPORT that Leeds need a proper goalscorer. I’m so happy that he could prove people wrong. I don’t know him but it’s a nice career.”
He will be hoping that he doesn’t cause too many problems for his defenders on Monday night though.
As well as praising the opposition Klopp was of course full of praise for his own players mainly Ozan Kabak and Nat Phillips.
“They do really well and hopefully it stays like this. I’m really happy for them. Ozan came here at 20 and making a big step and winning more games than before is good for him.
“Nat exceptional career so far” said the German.
So it’ll likely be those two starting again with Alexander-Arnold and Robertson as the full-backs again.
The pair were excellent mid-week against Real Madrid and it was due to so many missed chances Liverpool could not progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
So now all the focus is on getting back into that fantastic competition which we may not see in a few years time due to the farcical plans that Liverpool will join a breakaway European super league.
John W Henry once again showing he doesn’t understand this famous old football club whose supporters live for the famous European nights.
The manager and the players get it though, so fans should be backing them all the way to get the three points on Monday.
