Player ratings: Liverpool continue their 100% record in the Champions League as they beat Porto 2-0

Liverpool had a comfortable victory against Porto as they brushed them aside without any real issues.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had already topped the group before the game kicked off, so the result did not necessarily matter however the fans at Anfield were given a treat thanks to a wondergoal from Thiago and a typically cute finish from Mohamed Salah.

Alisson Becker: 6

Didn’t have much to do. Some good distribution but did present Porto with a chance in the second half but nothing came from it.

Neco Williams: 7

Kept up his impressive form this season with great link-up play with Salah down the right. A menace for the Porto defence all night.

Joel Matip: 7

Good one on one defending against Luis Diaz showing his prowess but apart from that was not given a challenge throughout the game.

Ibrahim Konate: 5

Showed his pace by getting a block in the first ten minutes. At times was clumsy in possession as he gave the ball away in the first half which led to a massive chance for the opposition. Also got very harshly booked. Good run-out for the Frenchman who hasn’t had many minutes.

Kostas Tsimikas: 6

Lost the ball in the first half which led to a chance for Porto but other than that was another lively performance from the Greek who was up and down the left-hand side all night

Tyler Morton: 7

Brilliant clearance to stop a certain goal in the first half. Seemed composed all game in midfield. A fine display for his Champions League debut.

Thiago Alcantara: 8

Glorious passing throughout the game and was unlucky not to get an assist in the first half due to a marginal offside goal, went one step further in the second half and scored a goal himself. A stupendous strike from outside the box. A very satisfying strike and performance.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 7

Close with an effort on the edge in the second half, really good overall performance again.  Starting to show consistency and looks to compliment Thiago well in the middle

Mohamed Salah: 6

Got his customary goal even though he had a quiet night. Sent Uribe for the Echo before putting the ball in the net before he was substituted for Fabinho. 17 goals in 17 games so far this season.

Takumi Minamino: 5

Impressive defensive work all night. Worked tirelessly which will have impressed Klopp and his coaches.

Sadio Mane: 6

A quiet game just like Salah which was expected considering the game is technically a dead rubber for Liverpool. Probably should have scored in the second-half as he mishit an effort wide from a corner.

Substitutions:

Andy Robertson (Kostas Tsimikas 63): 6

Very bright introduction, looked refreshed which is a huge positive.

Jordan Henderson (Thiago Alcantara 63): 4

Important that he got some more minutes to get back up to match fitness.

Fabinho (Mo Salah 72): 4

Didn’t have much to do when he came on, 100% pass accuracy.

Divock Origi (Sadio Mane 72): 5

Back from an illness which ruled him out of the Arsenal game and was a nuisance down the left when he came on

James Milner (Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 82): 5

Went into the false nine position for ten minutes, caused some issues for the Porto defence too.
