Mersey Ferries has announced a virtual Facebook Live gig to raise much-needed funds for LCR Cares, a crowdfunding campaign providing vital financial support to frontline community and voluntary organisations in the Liverpool City Region.
Taking place on Friday 8th of May from 8pm, local Musician Callum Mac will be taking over the Merry Ferries Facebook page and performing an eclectic mix of classics. From the Who, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder and of course the Beatles, Callum will be providing the perfect soundtrack to kickstart the bank-holiday weekend safely from your home.
LCR Cares is a new crowdfunding campaign created by Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram to raise £1million to support those on the frontline of helping the city region’s communities cope with the impact of Coronavirus.
Gary Evans from Mersey Ferries said:
“We are very proud to be supporting the LCR Cares campaign, our community heroes urgently need help in providing relief to those who are struggling to cope with the impact of Covid-19.
“We ask all of our customers who would be usually joining us this bank-holiday weekend for an evening sailing along the Mersey, to join us for our first Facebook Live gig with talented local artist Callum Mac. We urge you to give whatever you can to #LCRCares, every donation helps!
“The iconic Mersey Ferries have been an essential part of Liverpool’s history for over 800 years and we look forward to the day when we can welcome customers onboard to sail the Mersey once again!”
The LCR Cares fund is being managed by the Community Foundation for Merseyside, a registered charity that has distributed in excess of £40m to grass root community groups and charities across the Liverpool City Region and has a long-held reputation for ensuring funding is provided to the most vulnerable.
