Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) is preparing once more for the customary Christmas and New Year “getaway,” with approximately 130,000 passengers anticipated to pass through the airport over the festive and New Year holiday period.
Some schools in the North West have already concluded for the holidays, while others will conclude later this week.
Many families from all around the region are anticipated to take direct flights from Liverpool to a variety of locations during the holiday season. Many people will be travelling to see friends or family over the holiday season, while some will be leaving for a combination of winter sun and winter sports.
The most popular destinations are certainly Belfast, Dublin, Geneva, the Isle of Man, Alicante, Jersey, Lanzarote, Paris, and Tenerife.
As always at this time of year, LJLA Management is keen to remind all passengers that restrictions on liquids carried in hand luggage are still in place and to carefully consider what items they are intending to pack in hand luggage before they set off for the airport, especially those who are travelling with presents for friends and relatives. Passengers scheduled to fly out of Liverpool can continue to take advantage of Liverpool’s renowned Faster, Easier, and Friendlier customer experience. Tablets and laptops, among other electrical devices, still need to be arranged separately in the designated trays, along with small, transparent bags that can be sealed and hold up to 100ml of liquid or gel.
Passengers should travel with their presents unwrapped if they are to be carried in hand luggage, as most airlines do not permit items such as Christmas crackers, in order to avoid disappointment at the security search point and help keep security queues to a minimum.
Robin Tudor, Head of PR for LJLA commented:
“The Christmas and New Year period is expected to be busy once again and we look forward to welcoming thousands of passengers from across the region who will be taking advantage of our award winning customer experience and the convenience of flying hassle free from Liverpool.
We’re really proud of our faster, easier and friendlier passenger experience, but at this time of year, we ask that passengers also help to ensure a great start to their festive getaway by remembering to always allow plenty of time, come prepared and think carefully about what they are carrying in their hand luggage, since restrictions remain in place.”
