Liverpool digital agency develops queue management tool as shoppers descend on high streets

Baltic Triangle-based digital solutions agency, Brighter Design, has developed a brand new queue management service, to support businesses to keep staff and customers safe, as non-essential retailers begin to reopen.

As crowds descend on our high streets and normal life starts to resume, many businesses and shops will be struggling to manage the inevitable queues that are formed due to social distancing measures being put in place. Footfall is expected to increase, with Springboard indicating that retail footfall is sure to rise even further during the coming weeks as the government continues to relax restrictions.

Chris Abram, Director of Brighter Design, recognised these new challenged that are being placed on businesses that would not ordinarily need to deal with queues or worry about footfall.

To support these businesses and to help ensure that customers are not put off by these long queues, or who feel nervous about capacity measures being put in place, Brighter Design has developed KwikQueue,  an online tool for retailers to manage capacity by allowing customers to book in time slots to visit their establishments.

The flexible, easy to use tool can be used for queue management, capacity control or as a ‘fast pass’ for customers to avoid the need to queue, giving them the confidence to browse in-store by booking appointments.

Chris Abram, Director of Brighter Design, said:

“Businesses are having to adapt incredibly quickly to respond, and it is an incredible challenge to be able to strike the balance between encouraging customers to come in-store, and to ensure social distancing measures are in place to keep staff and customers safe.

“Many businesses are already finding it difficult to manage capacity and the increasing queues will mean that our high street pavements will filled with people waiting to get in-store, creating a ripple effect. While some are happy to queue, many will be put off by recent reports of hour-long waiting times, as well as feeling nervous to get back to normal and potentially put themselves at risk.

“By using KwikQueue, business can give themselves and their customers the confidence that capacity will be managed, helping to make the overall experience for customers more enjoyable and relaxed and importantly, as safe as possible.”

Not limited to shops, the tool can also be used for cafes, bars, post offices for a small fee, and is completely free for charities, who have suffered significantly as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.
