This November Live Aid Liverpool will be bringing two nights of fabulous live entertainment which will feature over seventy artists from across Merseyside, all in aid of Alder Hey Children’s Charity and Shelter on Merseyside.
This event, which is kindly sponsored by The Cavern Club, will take place over two successive nights at the magnificent Grand Central Hall in the heart of Liverpool on Tues 30th Nov & Wed 1st December.
It will be hosted by the presenters from Liverpool Live Radio, who have been very instrumental in supporting the project since Day One.
Many of the artists involved were also featured on last years Band Aid Liverpool charity single which had the full approval and endorsement of Sir Bob Geldof himself and reached No11 in the charts just before Christmas.
The two co-directors of Live Aid Liverpool, Tony Cook and Brian Ambrose, are professional musicians themselves, recently returning from a successful five week tour in the US with their band The Mersey Beatles.
Tony said ‘We both felt that there was unfinished business following last years charity single, so back in May with the possible return of live entertainment on the horizon, we considered a live concert so that the people of Liverpool could enjoy and support it, so once the idea was put to all the artists, we decided to go full steam ahead and this time for two worthwhile local causes.
Tony added:
“We felt we had to include a special tribute to the late Gerry Marsden, who sadly died earlier this year, as part of the lineup. Gerry was a true Merseybeat legend and some of his songs have become synonymous for our great city”
There will be lots of music covering all genres from Merseybeat to Rat-pack, Motown, swing and soul to rock and roll, and fabulous tributes to legends such as The Doors, The Commitments, Led Zeppelin, Dolly Parton and Paul McCartney, plus we are revisiting Live Aid 1985 with a special performance featuring some of Liverpool’s best musicians. There’s also a couple of secret surprises too”
“When deciding on the venue, it was a no brainer really, Grand Central Hall is right in the heart of the city, and is now a true jewel on our live entertainment scene, the management have been very supportive throughout”.
The event will also be attended by the current Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Mary Rasmussen.
