Popular Spanish tapas restaurant, El Gato Negro, returns to the Exchange Flags bringing late night dining and a new collection service.

Operating four days a week from Wednesday – Saturday, the venue offers extended hours of food service, providing guests the opportunity to enjoy dining late into the evening.

El Gato Negro’s impressive bar, with a mix of booth and high-table seating, invites those looking to extend their evening to settle in for the night, with a wide selection of cocktails, wine, and beer until close.

A new take-out and collection service will also be available, offering city dwellers and professionals with the opportunity to savour a taste of El Gato Negro in the comfort of their own home or office.

The new Collection menu includes a broad number of the restaurant’s much-loved dishes including meatballs in tomato fritarda sauce, salt cod croquetas, piquillo pepper purée and aioli and bravas, and patatas bravas with spiced tomato fritarda sauce and aioli.  A selection of wines and soft drinks are also available when ordered alongside food.  Orders are invited by telephone on 0151 236 1331.

Returning alongside the popular restaurant’s new features is El Gato Negro’s popular Tipsy Tapas, which invites diners to enjoy three select tapas dishes and bottomless Cava, Bellini, beer, or house wine for 90 minutes from the point of order and for just £30pp.

The restaurant’s Three for £15 menu is the perfect alternative for those looking to simply experience El Gato Negro’s signature dishes or a lighter bite.   Tipsy Tapas is available every Saturday 12pm – 5pm and the Three for £15 menu every day from 12pm to 5pm.

For guests looking for an extra special way of reuniting with friends and family or to mark belated events, El Gato Negro’s private dining room, with seating for 16 and a concealed plasma screen, offers the perfect opportunity.

Speaking on the reopening, Chef Paton and Creative Director of El Gato Negro, Simon Shaw, said:

“It’s good to be back.

“It sounds like a cliché, but we really are a family at El Gato Negro, and it feels great to return to the restaurants with the team.  The coming weeks are going to be different, and like everyone else it will take time for us to find our feet, but we’re looking forward to reopening the doors at Exchange Flags and doing what we do best.

“The safety of our guests and our team is, as always, of paramount importance to us and we’ve introduced a number of new measures, in line with government guidelines, to ensure we provide a safe and comfortable dining experience for all.

“We’re fortunate that here at Exchange Flags we’ve been able to introduce social distancing with relative ease.  The restaurant’s incredible vast ceilings and large open plan floor create a spacious and airy dining environment, with the terrace providing the perfect space to dine alfresco.

“It’s been a difficult period for everyone and there’s some hard work to be done, but we’re confident we’ll get back on track and are looking forward to being reunited with so many familiar faces.”

El Gato Negro reopens with the strictest safety measures in place including distanced seating, regular and enhanced deep cleaning, hand sanitising stations, contactless payment (where possible) and laminated menus which are cleaned after every use.  For further information please visit  https://www.elgatonegrotapas.com/covid-19-safety/.
