Gran Caffè, owned by the Italian brothers Paolo and Donato Cillo, started more than a decade ago in Williamson Square as a part of the popular Italian Quarter.

The authentic family business has grown immensely since then, and in December 2023 they opened a second coffee shop on Duke Street.

Located on Lark Lane in Liverpool, the third Gran Caffè is the first to open outside of the city centre and features an even more developed menu and all-day service.

Along with a variety of brunch dishes, Gran Caffè will serve its famous breakfast pastries, which are made by hand by their skilled pastry team, led by Donato’s wife Antonietta, and baked fresh every day.

Italian small and large plates, ideal for lunch, aperitivo, and dinner, are now part of the menu.

Gran Caffè’s third location will open in late spring. The company is well-known for its award-winning, daily-made artisan gelato, homemade sourdough bread sandwiches, and Italian coffee.

Gran Caffè, which means “Great Coffee,” was established by Paolo and Donato in order to bring the vibrant Italian coffee culture to Liverpool. They were inspired by the rich ambiance that permeates every Italian coffee shop.

The Cillo family runs a true family business, serving a variety of handcrafted Italian delicacies that are provided by their family members. They are passionate about giving their guests an authentic Italian experience.

Their brother makes their pinsa focaccia and sourdough fresh every day, and Donato’s wife Antonietta makes elegant cakes and homemade gelato.

Gran Caffè gets all of its ingredients from their sister restaurant, A Tavola da Maria Delicatessen, and grinds their coffee using beans from their family’s roastery, Torrefazione Lucana, in Potenza.

Gran Caffè is well-known for being a pasticceria, or cake and pastry shop, and has been providing its Italian specialties to Liverpool residents for more than a decade. The establishment, which was once known as P&D Deli, underwent a makeover to showcase the highest calibre ingredients utilised and the wide range of classic Italian coffees offered there.
