Family holiday leads to award winning business, Liverpool Food Walking Tours.

Gareth Boyd, Founder of the fast becoming popular city tour, Liverpool Food Tours, explains how a family holiday experience, created 2 award winning tours which allow you to be a tourist in your own city.

Gareth explained:

“My family love food, travel , history and exploring. I still vividly remember joining my first ever Food walking tour. As a family we explored Greenwich Village in NYC – our local knowledgable guide took our group off the beaten track to taste/sample amazing foods from a variety of independent venues.

Following this I was hooked and since then I’ve experienced/enjoyed numerous food tours across the globe. I think that they’re a great way to immerse oneself in the local culture and sample local cuisine.

“In the summer of 2018, I launched A Taste of Chester Food Walking Tours and then Liverpool Food Walking Tours followed in 2019. Guest feedback as been fabulous and it’s a privilege to partner with fantastic independents across both cities and showcase them. Guests are not only from far and wide but also local. When I started the tours, I was slightly concerned that locals would know everything about their city and all the independent venues – it soon become evident that they didn’t. We’re never a tourist in our own city and it’s therefore super to be able to widen everyone’s breadth of knowledge of an array of superb food and drink venues.”

“Both Chester and Liverpool are not only beautiful cities with rich history and landscape, they’re also ‘melting pots’ of amazing food/drink venues.

Since launching, both Chester and Liverpool Food Tours have won awards and I’m supported by 2 tour guides in Liverpool. Plans are afoot for new tour itineraries to launch in 2023, and the tour guide teams to grow. It’s wonderful to be able to meet guests, build partnerships with passionate venues. I’m very lucky and of course tasting/sampling great food and drink is an added bonus!”
