The Cavern Club ranked as the most popular music venue outside of London

New research by Betway reveals The Cavern Club in Liverpool is the UK’s most popular music venue outside of London.

The world’s most popular venues for music lovers have been identified by Betway through an analysis of over 120 music venues worldwide.

Thousands of incredible music venues can be found all over the world, whether you’re in a symphony hall or a basement club. Which iconic music venue around the world is the most well-liked, though?

In order to ascertain this, Betway analysed Google search volumes, TikTok and Instagram hashtags, and Google ratings for over 120 music venues worldwide.

The full research can be found here.

Berghain has been crowned the most popular music venue in the world, with 508.2 million hashtags on TikTok.

Berlin’s Berghain has emerged as the world’s most popular music venue, drawing big-name DJs on a regular basis. The German nightclub receives 508.2 million hashtag views on TikTok, more than any other venue on the list, and approximately 5.4 million searches for it occur on Google each year. With 326,341 posts on Instagram tagged with “#Berghain,” the club also has the third-highest number of hashtags on the platform.

Renowned for its exclusivity, the club has a rigorous “no phones” policy, requiring guests to put a sticker over their phone cameras. However, judging by the amount of social media posts that mention the venue, it’s possible that some people are choosing to break this rule.

The world’s top 10 most popular music venues:

The Sydney Opera House is the most Instagrammed music venue in the world, with 1 million hashtags on the platform.

With over a million hashtags on Instagram, the Sydney Opera House is not only the most popular music venue globally, ranking in second place overall. The fact that it’s a well-liked concert venue and tourist destination may also be the reason behind the large number of Instagram photos that include the hashtag.

But with just 67.7 million hashtag views on TikTok, it has far less popularity—seven times less than the Berghain. One of the most well-known structures in the world, the Sydney Opera House presents more than 1,500 shows a year, to an audience of over 1.2 million spectators.

The Royal Albert Hall is the UK’s most popular music venue, with a Google rating of 4.8 out of five.

Having received a Google rating of 4.8, the Royal Albert Hall in London is ranked third globally and first in the United Kingdom among popular venues.

Since its opening in 1871, the main stage has hosted some of the biggest names in music, including Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. It is still a well-liked location for concerts by legendary performers. The location boasts the second-highest number of tagged Instagram posts (379,679 hashtags) of any venue on the list, in addition to 252.1 million hashtag views on TikTok.

Four of the world’s most popular music venues are in the US, including Radio City Hall and Sphere.

Radio City Music Hall in New York has placed fourth. The location receives 1.6 million Google searches annually and, at 284,921, has the fourth-highest number of Instagram hashtags among all venues examined. Its Google rating is 4.8, same as that of the Royal Albert Hall. Known as “The Showplace of the Nation,” it is the residence of the well-known dance group The Rockettes and has hosted performances by Pink Floyd, Madonna, David Bowie, Frank Sinatra, and others.

A fixture in the top five is Sphere in Las Vegas. Situated to the east of the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, the venue has garnered a Google rating of 4.6 and, even though it opened its doors in September 2023, it has amassed 79.4 million views on TikTok, making it the fourth most popular venue on the list. This striking venue is currently home to U2, with Harry Styles expected to take over as the band’s next resident in 2024.

The top 10 most well-known music venues in the world list also included Denver’s Red Rock Amphitheatre, which has hosted acts like The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix in the past, and Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, which has hosted well-known contemporary musicians like Lizzo.

Are any of these music venues on your bucket list for 2024, or have you already been to one of them?
