Castle Street’s popular venue BoBo Liverpool announced runner up in Observer Food Monthly Awards 2022.
The Observer Food Monthly Awards reveal their readers favourite places to drink around the UK, and seen the venue described as Fun tasting notes (“friend of ham and cheese”, “criminally drinkable”), seasonal wines, sangria brunch, a rum menu, pasteis de nata all day – all part of the fun at this wine bar in the Spanish and Portuguese style.
Steven Burgess, managing director and co-founder of Lucky Penny Group, which owns and operates BoBo, said:
“BoBo has only been open for a couple of years and we still have some way to go to realise our vision fully, but this recognition from Observer Food Monthly is great and feels like some reward for pushing an exclusive Iberian theme and to make wines from that region very accessible. We firmly believe that we are not just ‘another bar’ and are fiercely independent on a street full of well-funded national brands. We are trying to stand out from the crowd and do something totally different in the city and we spend a lot of time thinking about the detail and our authenticity to continue to deliver a fun and welcoming experience for everyone who walks through our doors.”
Josh Moore, finance director and co-founder of Lucky Penny added:
“We have ambitious plans to grow BoBo in the city region and beyond especially in terms of our food offer, but the immediate focus is in ensuring that our BoBo concept continues to thrive and that the bar remains an enjoyable place to visit. National endorsement from Observer Food Monthly suggests that our reputation is growing stronger and it’s really welcome, but we will keep on pushing forward.”
