The city of Liverpool done themselves proud in the last ever Giant Spectacular, Liverpool’s Dream. The streets where lined with seas of people all in awe and delight at seeing them gargantuan loveable characters stride in style, in a story that will be on the lips of all who attended for years to come.
Not only home-grown crowds flooded the streets, but also those from near and a far from around the country all united in one amazing event. It may have taken four years for these enormous figures to return, but it’s fair to say the Royal de Luxe Giants were welcomed with open arms, in a city that wears its heart on its sleeve. From taking steps past the iconic Royal Liver Building to waking up at Fort Perch in New Brighton, some of the images taken for this spectacle have truly shown why there is no other city like the Liverpool City Region.
The estimated number of visitors to this year’s event have hit a record 1.3 million people! All together the Giants and Xolo the adorable dog covered 21 miles on their weekend trip around Liverpool and New Brighton.
Greeted by a standing ovation by the crowds who had gathered, Giants creator Jean-Luc Courcoult was so overwhelmed that the emotional conclusion left the artistic director lost for words.
As the time has come for these incredible Giants to go into retirement, we can honestly say they have stolen our hearts and the memories of their visit will be spoken of for generations. From Big Giant to Little Girl Giant, to the debut appearance of The Little Boy Giant and the mischievous Xolo the Dog, thank you Royal de Luxe for letting your spectacular creations EXPLORE one magnificent city!
