The Bronte launch campaign to help raise funds for renovating their historic building

The Bronte Youth and Community Centre are renovating its historic building in the heart of Liverpool into a vibrant, safe, and welcoming space for hundreds more children, young people and families in need.

And you can help them finish the building and give our city the community centre it deserves by donating to The Bronte Big Build Campaign.

This is your opportunity to be part of the regeneration of Liverpool and help this wonderful youth and community centre keep changing lives in Merseyside. Be a part of the Bronte Big Build.

The Bronte is the only community centre in Liverpool’s city centre, and the immediate area is one of the most deprived in the country, ranking 4th out of 317 local authorities that are most deprived in England (2019).

Previously, the centre raised over 3 million pounds to transform its building, introducing vibrant new spaces and exciting opportunities just a short distance from Lime Street Station. But soaring inflation has made the building costs spiral. And it’s vital that they don’t scale back their plans. With your help, the team wants to make sure they build a better Bronte—one that’s ambitious, environmentally sustainable, and economically self-sufficient, so it can stand on its own two feet. Your donations will also allow them to scale up and extend their services beyond the city centre to the entire region, reaching hundreds more people in need of their support.

Laura Cain, Centre manager said:

“This really is the stuff of dreams for the Bronte and our Community. Over the years, I watched as my mum struggled, year after year to raise funds and fight to keep the Bronte alive. This renovation work on our building is beyond anything we could have envisaged for the Bronte, and the impact it is going to have on our young people and not only the local, but wider community, is immeasurable. I am so excited, proud and privileged to be a part of this, and to see the Bronte thrive once again.”

At The Bronte, you’ll find kids crafting, older kids doing martial arts, parents laughing over coffee, and people picking up brand-new skills. People come to us for youth clubs, children’s activities, school holiday playschemes and residentials, practical support, welfare advice and so much more.

Sattam, 12 years old, shares his experience of The Bronte’s youth club:

“Before I came here, I was sad and depressed but as soon as I went to the Bronte, it made my life way better. Football, skating and the whole team.”

Jess, 14 years old, said:

“We’ll soon be able to play in the garden, we’ve not been able to do that for years.”

Your donations will help them install all the fixtures and fittings, provide audio and visual equipment, create rentable office space, fit out their new kitchen, help generate their own energy, and make the centre sustainable.

A total of £750,000 is needed to fully complete the build.

You can donate here via their JustGiving page or you can help The Bronte give every kid every chance by donating £5 by texting BRONTE5 to 70255.
