Brad Kella, the latest winner of The Piano, treated festive shoppers at Liverpool ONE to a special performance this weekend, as part of Liverpool ONE’s festive programme.
The 23-year-old, who was crowned winner of the Channel 4 series earlier this year, took to the keys during the retail and entertainment destination’s Christmas Shopping Weekend.
The talented pianist had previously played at Tickle the Ivories – Liverpool ONE’s much-loved annual piano festival where one of his videos went viral and led him to take part on The Piano – making his performance on Saturday even more poignant.
Liverpool-born Brad Kella said:
“To be back in the place where I originally performed is amazing and the fact it’s at Christmas makes it extra special.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today if the pianos at Liverpool ONE weren’t there so, for that, I am forever grateful. I have loved performing here in my home city among local people today – I hope my story shows young kids that if you have a dream, you have to believe in it and not give up because I am proof that dreams do come true.”
As part of the bumper Christmas Shopping Weekend at Liverpool ONE, ‘snow’ fell over South John Street, while in-store activities and festive entertainment were part of the packed line-up.
Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director at Liverpool ONE, said:
“We’re incredibly honoured to have welcomed Brad back to Liverpool ONE to help us all get into the festive spirit.
“His story is remarkable and hopefully one that will inspire others. At Liverpool ONE, culture and community is at the heart of everything we do, and Brad is a wonderful example of homegrown talent.
“This weekend has been a magical one here, with snowfall, Santa and his elves, plus lots of giveaways for early Christmas shoppers.
“Our visitors have welcomed back Brad with open arms and everyone has loved watching him perform – he’s well and truly helped us celebrate the start of Christmas!”
