Yours Naturally Naturally Yours is a natural, organic skincare and haircare range that has had remarkable effects on people, including those with a variety of conditions. One of her most successful creations was her anti-aging serum, Elixir aka ‘Miracle In A Bottle’. Such was its effectiveness, she became a supplier to white label clients who purchased it and branded it as their own — selling internationally. One of these clients was Kate McIver Skin Ltd, who would go on to betray Georgina and almost bankrupt her in the process.
Georgina explained:
“Kate McIver branded my product that I created as Secret Weapon but then started to misrepresent that she created it with her own hands whilst she was having chemotherapy. It was a huge insult, especially as I created the business whilst my son was having chemotherapy and had worked so hard to create these products and build my business.”
Kathryn Orr, then Marketing Director of Kate McIver Skin, terminated their working arrangement with immediate effect on November 30th 2018 — launching Secret Weapon Limited Edition based on Elixir the very next day. Kate McIver’s ‘Secret Weapon’ shot to fame with the fake story and was championed by influencers and celebrities such as Lisa Snowdon, Danielle Lloyd, Trinny Woodall and Alex Gerrard.
Years of court cases ensued and in April 2023 Georgina finally won, followed by a High Court of Appeal win in December 2023. However, whilst succeeding in the claim of Reverse Passing Off and Copyright Infringement after five long years of legal battle, Georgina has lost over £340,000 as Kate McIver Skin hasn’t paid the legal costs awarded — putting a huge strain on her business and family.
Georgina said:
“This long legal battle has taken its toll not just on my mental health but also on my family’s financial stability. I’ve had to cash in my pensions, we’ve sold my husband’s car and wedding jewellery, we’ve had to live without heating despite my son Alessio being immune compromised so he feels the cold more than the average person. It’s been so hard but we’ve just about survived and despite this, my company has managed to reach a major milestone — its 10th birthday.”
“I owe so much to my friends for supporting me through this ordeal and to my customers and business clients who continue to choose my natural, organic products. Whilst it will take a long time to recover the money I spent on the court case, business is good — especially now people know that Kate McIver’s Secret Weapon was actually my product and they had been closed down by the court order. Therefore lots of their ex-customers are now buying Elixir aka Secret Weapon from my company.”
