Eurovision winner Katrina announced as Pride in Liverpool headline artist

Pride in Liverpool has announced Eurovision winner Katrina as their headline act.

The annual march and festival are still free to attend, and the former Eurovision winner will spread the love and light on the main stage when it returns to the iconic Liverpool Waterfront on Saturday, July 27.

Eurovision winner Katrina announced as Pride in Liverpool headline artist

Known for hits like Walking on Sunshine and Going Down to Liverpool, Katrina reached new heights in 1997 when she led Katrina and the Waves to victory in the UK’s Eurovision Song Contest with Love Shine A Light.

Katrina’s headline performance and the remainder of the day’s schedule are free to attend. This is after Pride Classical, the night before, announced an extra day and ticketed fundraiser.

As previously announced, Pride in Liverpool festival will take place at the same time as the yearly March With Pride. Anyone wishing to join the march, which starts at St George’s Hall Plateau and ends at the Liverpool Waterfront, can register.

More details of the full Pride in Liverpool programme are to be released in the coming weeks. Anyone wishing to perform or trade can find more information on the website.

Andi Herring, CEO of LCR Pride Foundation, said:

“We are thrilled to be bringing the main stage back for what is going to be the biggest Pride in Liverpool programme yet. We’re not quite yet over the buzz of last year’s Eurovision and following the weekend’s fantastic contest in Malmo we can’t wait to continue that magic further with Katrina.

“Pride in Liverpool is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate diversity and acceptance in the Liverpool City Region and show our solidarity with LGBT+ communities across the world. We are delighted that the festival remains free to attend for everyone and we will continue to prioritise accessibility further than ever before so that everyone can enjoy the day.”
