Wirral loop artist promises best gig ever

Just six months after having a stroke and a blood clot in his brain, Wirral loop artist John Wynne promises the audience that this will be ‘the best gig ever.’

The gifted musician, well-known for his “One Man Jam,” will be performing an interactive loop show on Friday, April 26 at The Venue By White in Moreton. The show will feature disco, funk, dance, hip-hop, and all genres in between.

John Wynne is one of the most entertaining live acts around, having wowed crowds at The Cavern Club and numerous other venues. John puts on a show unlike any other, looping beloved songs from the 1980s to the present day while skillfully combining sound effects and layers using the loop pedal.

Friday, April 26th, is John’s special comeback gig at The Venue By White, Moreton’s elegant events and wedding venue. Expect a high-energy show with lots of opportunities for audience participation! Just six months after he almost died, the artist is returning with a bang, so this is expected to be ‘the best gig ever’!

John, soon to be 40, explained:

“I can’t begin to explain how much this means to me to be playing again and I’m going to make this one hell of a showcase. When I suffered a stroke that was caused by a blood clot on the brain and was rushed to hospital, I feared for the worst. The whole situation was terrifying and at times I worried I’d never play again, so I’m absolutely delighted to be back again in just 6 months!”

The musician had a great night’s sleep on September 12, 2023, but woke up with no memory, blurred vision, and unsteady balance. This was shocking as he is a fit and healthy gym-goer and former personal trainer. He stayed at home after dialling 111 and being told it was probably a migraine, but the symptoms persisted, so his girlfriend rushed him to the hospital in a panic.

John said:

“I had many tests and an MRI that showed a whole section of my brain wasn’t functioning. Naturally, you fear the worst. Would I be able to play music again, work out, live a good quality of life? After thorough investigations it showed I had a hole in my heart that caused two blood clots on the brain and ultimately a stroke.”

John, a real force to be reckoned with, started his rehabilitation two weeks after the stroke. He went for walks, played chess, took mental tests, and gradually eased back into the gym. He started to feel better gradually and composed a song for his girlfriend Molly, who was there for him the entire time. Amazingly, he is doing this big gig six months later.

John summarised:

“I still have a blind spot in my vision but other than that I feel great. I missed out on gigs abroad and great opportunities but I’m just so grateful to be here because if we’d have left it another day or two before going to hospital I might not have been here today. My girlfriend, family and friends have been amazing supporting me and it feels fantastic to be playing again. I’m going to make this the best gig ever!”

John Wynne is performing at Moreton’s classy The Venue By White on Friday 26th April from 7.30pm. The night will feature John’s interactive ‘One Man Jam’, including disco, funk, dance, hip-hop and everything in between with plenty of opportunities for the audience to get involved.

You can book your tickets for the gig here.
