This weekend is King Charles III’s Coronation, and Liverpool is rolling out the red carpet.
The historic ceremony will be screened at the Pier Head, street parties, two church services, and the Town Hall will be lit up as part of the celebrations for the Coronation in Liverpool.
The celebrations follow His Majesty and The Queen Consort’s visit to Liverpool a week earlier, when they were there to dedicate the Eurovision TV stage and twin the Central Library with the Odesa Regional Scientific Library in Ukraine.
Screening of Coronation – Saturday 6 May
The Coronation will be screened in the Eurovision Fan Village at the Pier Head.
Doors open at 10:30am and everyone is welcome to come along and watch the historic event, broadcast live from Westminster Abbey.
Street parties – Saturday 6 May and Sunday 7 May
Liverpool City Council has waived the normal temporary road closure fee, enabling residents to mark the Coronation with friends and neighbours.

In addition, two church services are being held which the public are able to attend:
- A vigil mass at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral on Friday 5 May at 5pm
- A civic service at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral on Sunday 7 May – people needed to be seated by 10am
Liverpool Town Hall will be lit up red, white and blue on Saturday 6 May.
