Hundreds are expected to experience to watch the Eurovision Song Contest at a unique viewing party in St George’s Hall, one of the city’s iconic buildings. “Saturday Night” star Whigfield will be headlining the event.
Although the event is now sold out, there is still a chance to win tickets through a competition run by the LCR Pride Foundation and Liverpool Gin Distillery.
To be in with a chance of winning one of five pairs of the final remaining tickets for the event on Saturday 13th May, Eurovision fans simply need to text WHIGFIELD to 70215. Runners up can also win special Liverpool Gin Distillery goodies and experiences. (T&Cs apply, see below*)
Entrants will also have the option to add a donation to LCR Pride Foundation to their entry, which will be used to support the city region’s LGBT+ community through the foundation’s various initiatives and events.
As well as an evening of Eurovision fun and entertainment, the tickets also include a complimentary glass of Liverpool Gin and Peace Pie from local caterers Homebaked.
Whigfield – famous for their international hit “Saturday Night” – will take to the stage after the winner of the song contest has been announced, meaning guests can finish their night off in true euro-pop style, in keeping with the spirit of the contest.
The event is being organised in partnership between St George’s Hall and LCR Pride Foundation, raising essential funds to support the region’s LGBT+ community. The evening has been sponsored by ASG Audio Visual, who have provided the equipment to transform the iconic venue for the evening.
Andi Herring, CEO of LCR Pride Foundation said:
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to what will be a truly unique way of viewing the Eurovision Song Contest. The city is going to be electric for the grand final and to have the opportunity to celebrate this in such an incredible building, while raising vital funds for our community, is so exciting.”
Hannah Sweeney, Head of Venue Operations at St George’s Hall, said:
“When special moments in the city happen, they happen here and St George’s Hall has played a key role in welcoming Eurovision to Liverpool at a number of incredible events, including BBC Two’s Live Semi Final Draw back in January and the National Lottery’s Bit Eurovision Welcome in May. The Grand Final Watch Party felt like the perfect way to end such an exciting line-up of events. We are super excited to welcome Whigfield on Saturday night to our very own party in the historic grandeur of The Great Hall!”
The two organisations have also teamed up to present the second Semi-Final event, hosted by local Scouse songstress and one-time Drag Idol UK finalist with after-show DJs, Sonic Yootha – a self-proclaimed “dislocated disco for homos, fauxmos, gender-blenders & part-time Brendas”, with tickets still available from Ticket Quarter here.
