Disco heads are counting down the hours ’til Friday for Hope Street venue Frederiks new regular Friday nighter, ‘Cover Me In Disco.’
Billed as the ‘complete’ disco experience, the new night brings a whole new format to Frederiks’ music events, and sees singers and musicians perform live covers of classic anthems, alongside DJ John Dean.
Powerhouse vocal queen Dixie Daye kicked off the launch proceedings, taking to the mic and putting her own personal interpretation of legendary floor fillers such as Do You Wanna Funk, Love Come Down and Automatic.
With her distinctive, soulful voice, Dixie has worked with the producers/co-writers of Beyonce, Plan B & Ceelo Green amongst others. Future nights will see soloists and duos take to the floor.
Cover Me In Disco is the brainchild of Liverpool DJ John Dean who also runs the highly successful Hope Street Jazz nights at the venue.
Commenting on the inaugural event, John said:
“I couldn’t be happier with the launch. Cover Me In Disco is all about celebrating the tracks that made Disco great and also giving our guest artists the freedom to put their own spin on them, with often exciting and original results.
This cross-over, mashing up live performance and dance music has been really at the forefront of events over recent years, we’ve seen clubland interpreted by classical musicians and this is the next evolution for Disco!”
Cover Me In Disco is every Friday from 8.00pm – guests this Friday are ‘For The Soul,’ – weekly line-ups can be found on Fred’s socials – @Fredshopest
Entry is free – advance table reservations are recommended and can be made via www.frederikshopestreet.com
