Lucky Penny Group are to launch more wine tasting events following the soaraway success of their Wine Club at city centre venue BoBo.
Laura Griffiths’ debut as the new wine ambassador at the Iberian-themed bar on Castle Street has led to her being appointed to lead wine tasting across the bar owners’ portfolio.
Laura, who also operates wine and language service Lingo Vino, made her city centre bow recently to a full house who revelled in her knowledge and enthusiasm of Spanish and Portuguese wine culture.
Laura will now also lead wine tasting evenings at BoBo’s sister bar, Abditory on Queen Avenue – between Dale and Castle streets – where she will take guests on a ‘world wine tour’.
The first event takes place on Wednesday, August 3rd, 7-9pm. She will be returning to the Iberian peninsula at BoBo on Thursday, August 4th, 7-9pm.
Steven Burgess, MD of Lucky Penny Group which owns Abditory and Bobo, said:
“The Wine Club guided by Laura was an immediate success and everyone who attended not only connected with Laura’s bubbly personality, but also left knowing so much more about how to choose wine.
“We have been wanting to launch Abditory’s Wine Club for some time and we are delighted she has agreed to expand her brief and help us there and as we aim to expand our portfolio of venues.
“At Abditory we serve 10 wines from nine different countries and as at BoBo all the wines have a story, are very approachable and easy to drink. Laura is now working with our wine supplier East Street Wines to ensure that guests have a memorable evening in a lovely off-the-beaten-track setting.”
Laura will be choosing six beautiful wines from across the globe with something special to round off the evening in style.
The qualified Spanish and French tutor said:
“BoBo’s wine club is an excellent concept and is a fun event which we aim to replicate at Abditory with its more extensive wine list.
“The idea behind the events is to show people the synergy between wine and food and how pairing them is an amazing experience, in addition to sharing the stories behind the labels.
“I am very excited to be working with a group of people who want to break down the barriers around wine buying and drinking and who share my passion for all things red, white and rosé.”
Abditory and BoBo Wine Clubs feature a welcome glass of sparkling wine, six further wines, light nibbles and something special at the end. They last around two hours and cost £30 per person.
