UK’s first nationwide cocktail tour roars into Liverpool’s Abditory this July

One of Liverpool’s coolest venues, Abditory has been selected as a pit stop for a renowned London bar’s nationwide summer takeover tour this month.

The multi-award winning Callooh Callay from Shoreditch is visiting 20 of the UK’s top cocktail bars in 20 days including Liverpool’s very own Abditory on Queen Avenue, which since opening has made its name as one of the city’s leading cocktail destinations.

Recognised for its innovation, Callooh Callay will be bringing a specially curated cocktail menu for the Gumball Tour, named after the Gumball 3000 car rally. It’s the first nationwide bar takeover rally in the UK.

The tour started on July 1st and the Callooh Callay mixology team are visiting Aberdeen, Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Leicester, Bath, Bristol, Cornwall and Cardiff. The Gumball Tour arrives at Abditory on Tuesday, July 12th, 5-9pm.

Abditory is a friendly neighbourhood and comfortable hideaway focused on standards, service and old school cool with ace an 80s soundtrack. It seats 55 people inside as well as having a discreet and large outside terrace.

“It’s going to be great a night and they are buzzing about coming to Liverpool because of our world-famous vibe and style and great nights out. It’s almost unmissable.”

The drinks menu will include influences from tour sponsors with brands such as Hennessy, Moet & Chandon, Franklin & Sons, as well as Hooch.

Six new cocktails will be offered, including an alcohol free drink – five from the Callooh Callay team and a surprise house special from Abditory’s own mixology guru:

·       2 truths 1 lie: Belvedere vodka, Muyu Chinotto Nero liqueur, pineapple, lemon, all spice, milk, Moet & Chandon Brut Champagne

·       Spicy Boi – Volcan Tequila, pineapple, lime, Dom’s chilli liqueur, Franklin & Sons pineapple & almond mixer

·       Watermelon Sugar High – Chamberryzette, watermelon cordial, Moet & Chandon Brut Champagne

·       Watermelon Sugar Sober – watermelon cordial, Franklin & Sons guava mixer

·       Grapefruiting – Eminente Amber Claro 3yo rum, Cochi Rosa, lychee syrup, Franklin & Sons grapefruit soda

A spokesperson for Callooh Calley said:

“We will be visiting a lot of bars around the UK in July to shine a light on what we are all doing around the UK and all the different things and people that make our industry the best in our field, as well as visiting some of our favourite bars in the sunshine.” 

The Callooh Calley takeover of Abditory is on Tuesday, July 12th from 5-9pm after which the bar will remain open for partying.
